White Flyer Event

Today was day 1 of the White Flyer Event, a International/Olympic Bunker Trap event held at Bridge Creek Clays in Hartsfield, Ga. It is a USA Shooting open event. It is a 125 target match. They shot 3 rounds (75 targets) today and will shoot 2 rounds (50 targets) and the finals/medal rounds tomorrow. Earning points in this event will help Abby qualify for the Junior National Team and/or the Junior World Cup Team this fall. Abby participated in this event last year and finished last.

Today was different. Abby shot rounds of 22, 18, and 22 for a total of 62 out of 75 targets.(82.666%) She is leading the Women's division by 5 targets and she is tied for 4th overall. 3 members of the Jr. National and World Cup teams are ahead of her. Tyler Lyrio shot 71 0f 75 targets (94.666%) Ryne Barfield shot 70 of 75 (93.333%). Will Hinton, Gold Medalist at the Perazzi Cup in Italy in 2013, shot 64 of 75 (85.333%) and Abby is tied for 4th with Jimmy Cooper, Former World Championship Rifle Team member, at 62 targets.

Tomorrow, Sunday, they will shoot 50 more targets and then go into the finals round for the medals. I will update here tomorrow

Abby shot 101 of 125 targets (80.8%) to win the Women's Gold Medal at the White Flyer Event. She finished 4th overall. Ryne Barfield shot 117 of 125 (93.6%) to win the Men's Gold Medal.

The Georgia Junior Olympic Qualifier is in two weeks from May 30 - 31, 2015. Abby defends her National Championship June 8 - 12, 2015 in Colorado Springs.
