    I think we were talking about a carbine buffer in an A1/A2 buffer tube at lunch. From what I've read, not good.

    Reading also show that using a full A2 setup with carbine gas system is fine. Makes sense.

    Great info. But remember that the recommendations are based on the 5.56 cartridge recoil profile. If you change that recoil profile you need to reconsider how it is "best" dealt with.
    I'd rather be lucky than good, but I'd rather KNOW I'm good than HOPE to get lucky.

    Absolutely. Also it would seem if you don't know what buffer you need (but you have the standard), the smart money is to buy an H-3, and you can change out tungsten weights for steel until you get the gun to work the way you want.
