I think we were talking about a carbine buffer in an A1/A2 buffer tube at lunch. From what I've read, not good.
Reading also show that using a full A2 setup with carbine gas system is fine. Makes sense.

Great info. But remember that the recommendations are based on the 5.56 cartridge recoil profile. If you change that recoil profile you need to reconsider how it is "best" dealt with.
