good article on diffrences between primers
Saw this and it has good info in it..
Especially on primer cup thickness
And suitability for diffrent pressures..
It tells the diffrences between the cci military primers and standard or magnum..
Cup thickness, composition, and construction
I'm still learning.

Excellent links. Thanks!
I do use magnum primers in any .357 loads, my hottest 10mm, and any compressed 300 BLK loads.
Though it would seem intuitive that the magnum primers would be best utilized in low case fill applications, It has been my experience they make high case fill loads using "slowish" powders burn significantly cleaner . . and yes, push a little more velocity too (which does seem intuitive if the powder is burning more efficiently).
I'd rather be lucky than good, but I'd rather KNOW I'm good than HOPE to get lucky.

Bob had a handout of cci primer energy listings..
My google-fu is not jedi level and I can't find it as a link..
I'll have to break out the russian space pen (pencil) to post it..
It was interesting the diffrence in small rifle and small rifle magnum energy (brisance)
It was less in the large rifle and large rifle magnums..
The further I get down the reloading rabbit hole the more questions about things I did not think about earlier I get.
I guess that is what makes it interesting.
All this started with a peirced federal primer in a warm 223..
Just trying to find out why..and the floating firing pin on the primer in a ar thing..
