There is another option,speed plates. They are level lll A but stop a shitload of different rounds. I use level llllA stand alone plates.

Well, honestly, some people are preparing for a day and time where ordering more gear will not be a possibility. Steel can take multiple hits. Most ceramic is combat ineffective after the first hit. Also, ceramic plates shatter if you drop them at the right angle, which is a lot easier than you think. For effectiveness and duration, I personally would, and have, chosen steel.Originally Posted by simmoag
Why don't we do a group buy of ceramic plates? Seems like steel is dangerous with the spalling that I have seem on Youtube videos. The weight of them seems to be significantly more than ceramic. Does anyone have any input on this other than watching YouTube videos?

I agree, ceramic plates are all of the above. I forgot to mention that I also have steel plates and plan on getting speed plates as well. Load out mission specific.
