CCGF Cleaning Workshop

I'm gonna try this proactive thing I keep hearing about and see how it works out...

There seems to be a lot of discussion and interest in some type of cleaning class/workshop.

Now, I am NOT the guy to teach you all how to clean a gun, and I don't even know that a "class" is the way to go, but how do you guys feel about setting up a time and place to bring your dirty weapons and cleaning supplies and do a "group clean"?

I'm sure there are lots of tips and tricks that can be passed in this group. Kind of a "best practices" info share? We could probably even take notes and pictures to archive here on the forum for future use.

I think that the ideal solution to that would be some stainless steel (or sheet metal) table(s) like they use at Pat Thomas. But I dang sure don't have the leverage to borrow a couple of them.


What I do have is a 20 gallon parts washer full of a 50/50 mix of Purple Power and water. And an air compressor. "Gun gunk" doesn't stand a chance against Purple Power.

Scheduling permitting I will be there. I have actually taught gun cleaning professionally before so I might even be willing to "co-teach," but I'm really hoping to pick up some more efficient techniques and see some of the new products that have come on the market since then.

You should never ever, ever never, never ever ever, use the term "group clean" in any context on this forum. But you should know this already!
