The first time I did a run up US 27 I was 3 days old... and I dunno when dad began but he rode shotgun for a produce hauler from Cairo who ran regular loads to Fort Myers back in the early '30s. Then in the mid-1950s through about 1976 he drove a truck up then back down it every week. Dad said slow down religiously... very, very, religiously for Perry, and also to be observant of the speed limit at Capps and Lamont. I have to believe he knew what he was talking about.
I understand that Perry was also a very bad place to be caught DWB, back in the day.
In general, I make it a point to give all far-away small towns a close adherence to their speed limits because writing tickets to "outsiders" is such an obvious potential boost for local government revenues.

Capps & Lamont never had local police that I was aware of, but in my experience FHP seemed real attracted to that area... especially, or including, late at night.
