    This is by no means a 100% in all cases safe statement.. But some of the older 22s that were made before the 1900s can shoot modern 22s.. I have used 22 shorts with out any issues.. But before doing so one needs to do a full inspection of the gun before hand.. And if you worry about using 22 shorts you can also go down to those 22 cb caps. Also a step lower than that you can use those 6mm Flobert caps.
