    Powders for .357 magnum

    I cast and reload a lot for .38 special for my Service Six, but none of the powders I have are particularly well suited to loading .357 magnum. I have titegroup, bullseye, and a bunch of Accurate #2.

    I want to load some of the 158 grain hornady XTPs I have, anyone have experience with this? I'm thinking either 2400 or h110.

    H-110 is a good universal magnum powder in 357, 44, and 45 colt++. No experience with 2400.

    2400 is the old stand by for 357 magnum, h110 and W 296 are the same powder. I’ve used more 2400 than h110 but both of them will get the job done. I believe H110 is cleaner burning.

    I have been more or less leaning towards 2400, as I don't think (don't have a manual in my lap) it requires magnum primers, and it can be used in some reduced rifle loads.
