On a side note once again I enjoyed the heck out of shooting with you guys. Y'all are some good shooters! Stuff I took away from this shoot.
Always try to bump a few rounds of the ammo you are gonna run thru your gun prior to showing up for a shoot. I initially intended to run my Mossy 590 at 200 on steel, but as usual you guys mixed it up with something I was not prepared for. I LIKE THAT! I've never shot slugs thru my junkyard dog mossy. Mostly number 4. Apparently slugs have more recoil which caused my crappy flip up broken half rear site to fold forward to about a 45 degree angle which resulted in rounds landing about 50 feet short of the pins. If I had known that I would have J B welded that sucker into place prior to the shoot. It shot fine first go round but it let me down in the second match. I'm calling Mossy tomorrow for a replacement or else buying one myself. Have confidence in yourself and your shooting ability! When Mike spotted for me and said I was shooting 50 feet short of the target, I assumed it was me instead of checking my sights  As a result I just sped up and continued to miss, but faster. You can't miss fast enough to win a bowling pin match!:o
Second...pay frigging attention to what's happening...if I had recognized the sight flipping down I could have simply reached up between each shot and flipped it up prior to shooting and stayed in the fight. This seemed to be the first match I felt like I might have been able to win while I was shooting it. That is why I enjoy shaking this shit out with you guys before the real deal if it ever happens. Let's me see what works and what doesn't. Always a learning experience shooting with Y'all. Don't want to have to figure this shit out in the real deal on the fly dodging incoming.
Third shooting pins with slugs is a blast and slugs are devastating! Don't wanna get hit by one....EVER!
Fourth an EDC truck pistol that sits in your truck in the NFla heat day in and day out will dry fucking up! The oil goes away! Completely! Check your weapons regularly especially if it's a weapon you are depending on for self defense!!!!
That about sums up my take away for the shoot but as usual it was a blast gentlemen! I look forward to the next one and hope we can introduce an additional challenging element into the fun shoot next time. One day maybe playing cards on edge. And I still wanna beat Mike at something one day :cooler: and try the slugs at 200. Just interested to see what my weapons and myself are capable of.
As I sit here ALONE (talking to wall A and wall B and my Dog who is awesome BTW) while my wife and kids are still up at Ft. Bragg, I'm surfing these post and I had a frigging idea. How about we shoot at some friggin golf balls sometime? (Charlie don't surf..or golf lol) Seems fitting to me. Any range you guys want. Just a random, alcohol fueled idea.
As long as the golf ball is close enough to hit it with a tossed weapon.
