Why don't we do a group buy of ceramic plates? Seems like steel is dangerous with the spalling that I have seem on Youtube videos. The weight of them seems to be significantly more than ceramic. Does anyone have any input on this other than watching YouTube videos?

BTW, this will not be a typical group buy. Whichever vendor we choose ( http://www.ar500armor.com/ or http://www.thetargetman.com/) you will be able to select anything they have.
We will need to get a minimum order, and we should be lower than their online prices, even with tax, but don't expect it to be 20%.
If we go with thetargetman you can get Ceramic, UHMWPE or AR500 steel, as well as targets and stands.
If we go with AR500 armor, they have med kits and MRE's and lots of other stuff.
I might be up for soft plates at some point.

Probably as a plate backer, they don't want the weight of the plates (ceramic or steel) or to increase the threat level protection. Some plates that list level 4 protection are to be used in conjunction with level 3a soft armor.Quote:
