Lots of folks seem to have mounted these with good results, but to appease your inner rambo its an important consideration.
I have to say my PolyTac Streamlight non-weapon rated light has held up quite well to 7.62x39 and 5.56.

If you look down the battery tube from the tailcap (the only way you can since the heads are polymer welded on these models), you'll see the operating circuit board for the light. The batteries rest directly on it. Repeated pounding on the bottom of the board will damage it. Weapon lights, and handhelds more suitable to be mounted will have their batteries isolated from direct contact with the electronics by a bulkhead of sorts, and separate contact, or even a spring.

That's interesting. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't planned on mounting it but that erases that thought from my mind.
There are plenty of mall ninjas that have had these mounted on ARs since they came out, FWIW.
Mine will serve on an ar or ak.
