It was AR500 armor. It wasn't coated but it was curved. Seemed like it was around $40 or so. There were several guys selling it on eBay.

Yes. By about 75% in the last couple of years.
I can't address plate carriers and that stuff (possibly why the price appears to have gone down?) but "raw" ar500 has gone through the roof.
. . . a painful side note: Wanna turn ar500 into (functionally) mild steel? Weld on it, or cut it with a torch. :rolleyes:
