Just looked at Powder Valleys site. They are now out of Ramshot TAC. That was quick.

Natchez shows Ramshot TAC in stock. Haven't bought powder in a while and it seems that when it's available one should get right on it.

    Wait. What?!?!

    From the Hodgdon/IMR site:

    .308, 175gr SMK

    H4895 Start: 40.0gr, 2489 fps, 39,100cup \ Max: 42.7gr,2647, 49,000 cup

    IMR 4895 Start: 41.0gr, 2463 fps, 42,800psi \ Max: 45.0c, 2704fps, 57,800psi

If I ever run into anything even close to that much lot-to-lot varrience I will quit loading ammunition. Period.

If I ever get handed a hand loaded cartridge by someone who says "Sorry, I don't pay attention to IMR vs H" I will most likely run. And I hate running.
I'd rather be lucky than good, but I'd rather KNOW I'm good than HOPE to get lucky.

I work the the load up again lot to lot (but not as in depth as I did the first time), but I just have not seen the stated variance. Well, if I have perhaps its because I don't load anywhere near the edge. Your mileage may vary

When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always.

So do I wait for IMR 4895 or not? DSH should have 10 lbs of that coming in a week.

    David,
    get what Bob recommends.

He may have a proven recipe for H4985, but he definitely has one for IMR 4895.

    Sure!
On checkout page it says most of their stuff are backordered. I'll call tomorrow before placing order.

Better get what you can get when you can get it. Those powders are pretty scarce. Jim

Dang, I wondered what those books were for. I am going to have to buy one of those someday . . . .
