All,
Who woulda thunk it. Speer seems to be making a real effort to keep their load data off the web. :( >:( :(

I need reloading data for the Speer Gold Dot 158gr .375 bullet for the .357 Magnum.

Just about any Hodgdon powder. I have; HS-6, Clays, TightGroup, Longshot. I have IMR 700x, AA#5. Aliant's Reloader 10 and 25. . . . please don't light a match near this post! ;)

I would really appreciate a reply ASAP, I'm at the shop now trying to get this done. 8)

based on the powders you listed

published load for 158 gr (Hodgdon manual)

longshot 8.4 gr 1394 fps 43,200 cup

do you have any H4227, 296, H110 or Lilgun?

these all generate more vellet me know if you want loads for any of these

i should have mentioned the load is for 158 gr HDY XTP

not sure it is going to matter

Accurate #5 is as follows:
Max Fps PSI COAL
No.5 158 HDY XTP 9.7 1,256 33,150 1.590

Again its for Hornady XTP.

Thanks guys!!!

But the bullet profile is drastically different between the gold dot and the XTP. I have both, and the gold dot is longer overall. If I line up the canelatures, the GD fills a LOT more of the case. Oh, and the GD has a concave base where the XTP has a bevel base but is basically flat. :(

I wish someone in town sold reloading manuals from stock. 'darned if I wouldn't go tomorrow and buy one of every one they have. especially Speer! 'course Hornady isn't much better in terms of load data on the ineterweb - I'd dang sure buy one of those books also. :( :( :( :(

Given the excess of headspace in the cartridge, i am not sure the extra seat depth is going to matter.

I really dont think the dome will effect much for the same reason

Suggest you back off 10% and develop.

Speer manual #13 lists 10.0 gr of AA#5 max load at 1152 fps from a six inch revolver. Start load is 9.0. This is for the 158 gr Gold Dot HP in .357 Magnum. Standard Primer.

HS-6 : 9.7 max at 1040 fps with magnum primer. 8.7 start load.

This is with their primers and cases.

The fastest load they list is 1265 fps with 2400 powder.

Hope this helps. As always, every load is an experiment.

I have several manuals if you need more info.
