Perhaps that should be changed to a Glock after all glocks are indestructible and that will destroy a 1911. Just saying---- and shit.;)

Oh, by the way. I made a mistake - bad Intel. Mike's Liver is the problem but you don't want to shoot up something that isn't working right anyway so we'll stick with the Kidney Shoot. Get your official targets starting tonight. Keep Mike in your prayers.

No, I'm a purist. The legend is a 1911 toss, so I'd like replicate that.

Can't make the toss, would love to, but I'm working. I'm sure there will be plenty of tossers there though :-)

I did buy a bunch of targets tonight though ;-)

Abby says she is willing to come out and shoot some ATA Trap. Come out and shoot with a National Champion. She says Rumbler has done so much for her that she wants to do what she can for him. We can come up with a per round cost to go to Rumbler! What say y'all?

That would be awesome. You are officially elected to run this op and coordinate with Talon on the details. If everyone does something, Mike will get the help he needs. Thanks!

My target has 45 caliber holes (plus a bunch of 9mm holes just for Mike).

Maybe you can find someone to donate a Llama 1911... a few dozen tosses might improve its function.

I bought some targets tonight but didn't take the targets. Does that mean I donated some Kidneys?

I'm so in for this 1911 toss. I just hope it doesn't malfunction.

Johnny

No further that a pygmy can toss it ,it will not malfunction.Try tossing a plastic gun and see which goes further.

You guys are just . . . . outstanding. Thank you. All. Even Ike. ;)

The object of tossage is on-hand. It will be a real metal replica. You guys gotta know a real 1911 being tossed downrange (again) would result in Talon1 & Talon2 killing us all slowly and painfully. Over several days.

So, while I appreciate the sentiment (especially attempting to improve the function of the Llama [that might work by the way]) I know you guys know it just won't fly.

. . . pun intended.

Yes, or metal replica. I believe Noose already offered one up.

So the toss is a complete replica gun downrange and not a stripped one in a ziplock bag?
A bag of parts being slung downrange by someone wearing a marco polo hat.....yeah,
Id pay to see that..

It's a complete non-firing replica 1911 with working slide, safety, trigger, magazine, and solid cartridges. It's probably 40 years old - I bought it and put it together when I was a wee teenager. It does have one grip panel that is partially broken but I think that will be the least of its worries on Saturday. I have a roll of Gorilla Duct tape to help with consistency between participants. The game will be furthest distance on the fly to first impact. In the event of a tie, the winner will be graded on throwing style and accuracy... yes, style points will count. ;)

It'll either be on Talon's competition range if the steel challenge match is done by noon or the 270 range (by the Conex boxes).

Bring cash - no checks no credits cards. Hope to see you there on September 20, 2014 at Noon. Jim

what is the distance to beat?
Or how far was the original targetshooting 1911 tossed?

I like the style points for tie breakers...
It ought to be quite the competition...
A high noon showdown of athleticism..
(And style)

I wouldn't even toss a ziplock bag of 1911 parts,
But the replica toss should be a fun fundraiser..

Well the 1911 toss went off without anyone actually getting hit. There were 2 with throws of about 96 feet and had to have a "throw off", which was one at 88'

Was nice to put some names with some faces, several guys from the forum, even a couple ladies, whose names I didn't catch.

Thanks to those that put it together.... Please don't forget the gofundme.com page that highlander started.....

May be ?

But he was likable....some of the stuff he came up with defied any reason....
He felt like he was just mis-understood about the 1911 toss, as he was just doing the " fight like you train" thing..
I still would have liked to have had all his empty brass though..and he was pleasant..(and interesting to shoot against ) in a controlled match environment.... not much use for the chinglish to redneck translator since he left...

I think that I worked a little with him on rifle to translate Redneck to Chinglish from Bob's PR class. . . . but you guys can't blame that handgun craziness on me. :P

I would have taught him to toss it straight up and when the bad guy looked up at it, cut his head off. ;)
