Hey. This is related to THIS thread (http://not-tgf.com/forum/index.php?topic=145.0) in a left handed sort of way.

Using Lee Deluxe rifle dies.

Finally got my "emergency" order of Lee factory decaping pins. They changed them. The old pin had a cylinder shape with a very short rounded taper in the pin-end. The new pins all have a very long taper on them that does not reach full diameter until much later - farther up the die from the decaping pin.

The purpose of this post is to save you some thinking if you didn't know this, and just to entertain those of you who knew this 20-years ago . . .

This means in the old days (last week?) you could pretty much throw the decaping pin in the full length resizing (or whatever) die and as long as the pin stuck down far enough to push the primer out, you were good to go.

WELL, not anymore, Buckaroo Bonzi. 8)

Now you gotta pay attention to make sure the pin is low enough to fully round out the neck but not so deep you are slamming the head of the decaping pin into the flash hole when you cycle the press.

Great. One more thing to never adjust correctly. http://www.pic4ever.com/images/kaffeetrinker_2.gif

At the risk of repeating myself...

At the risk of repeating myself...

I suggest decapping, ESPECIALLY 5.56mm, with a universal decapping die. Resize the case in a separate process.

Yeah... MidwayUSA ain't came down with my new Glock barrels yet, either. They got one of them 4 days ago, but I'm holding out till they get both... I don't want to pay the extra $4.xx shipping. "$4.xx here and $4.xx there, and pretty soon you're talking real money"... to paraphrase Everett Dirkson.

I've been using FS Reloading for all my "Lee" stuff. They have a pretty great deal on pulldown .224 bullets right now too. :P
