IOW, they never went to Vietnam. But, then, when it comes to buying used firearms, always buy the gun... not the story. You can SEE the gun. Who knows about the truth of the story?

But, I'm pretty immune to your subject of concern... For one thing, in this particular instance, *I* was "one of our guys" and I don't care. I also pretty much don't care about "their guys" (anywhere), either. Collectively, I've got military surplus guns that might have killed almost anyone almost anywhere in the world. They might, alternatively, never have killed anyone at all. I don't know. I don't care.

Robinson Gunworks in Monticello has 4 of their own ar builds on the wall. Looked like carbine length, m4 profile 16” barrels. Their custom builds are $1000 so maybe $800? Probably not a killer deal but they exist, so that’s kinda the same thing at the moment. They were busy so I didn’t get any info, but if anyone is looking I can get more info for ya next time I go in.

Originally Fiocchi imported their ammo from the Italy plant. They built a USA plant in the early 90s. The Italian stuff was the BEST around. Shot MANY a case on sporting clays and live pigeon shoots. Their US plant uses domestic components and is no better or worse than any other USA made shotgun shells.

The last 5-6 years I've been shooting Baschieri and Pellagri shotgun shells. Another imported Italian made shell.

Powder is the difference. The Italian shotgun powder is a flake powder. Hotter, cleaner and faster.

I'm not in the market for any ammo and haven't been for quite awhile because of other priorities and no time to shoot, but this is my go-to for commercial ammo and their online inventory is SUPPOSED to be real-time. I suspect that the problem with ammo-seek is that ammo-seek itself has an update schedule that is just too slow for high demand and small inventories currently prevailing. Going directly to this site should fix that... AND the main reasons I've used this company is that they are typically both faster to ship and much closer hence reduced shipping time, PLUS as a North Carolina concern, unlike places in the middle of the country, Missouri in particular, shipments don't go west further before they even turn east and head this way. Less handling delay, less shipping time, less shipping cost. In addition, their base prices are usually among the best if not always dead-lowest. To what extent these "historical aspects " prevail right now I can't really say, but I don't think you'll come out badly at all.

Palmetto State Armory is even closer but it's more of an acquired taste in general and they seem overworked, more than a little erratic, and less expensive in general but my impression is maybe not less expensive on at least SOME ammo, at least not always... but I haven't ever bought any ammo from them that I recall, and handling and shipping speed seem rather haphazard with them even during "slow" times... so I'm not exactly recommending them unless you happen to be a patient person and able to distinguish "good" prices from "bad" prices... but, they are an available option:

The last time I was on that street the South Georgia Outdoors store building in Cairo wasn't built yet much less remodeled into a retail store, but I believe it is almost exactly across the street from my "Uncle John'"s grave. John, one of my mom's kin married one of my dad's kin, served in the 59th Georgia, and settled in Jackson County, Florida after the war but ended up being buried in the Cairo City Cemetery... I have no idea why. John had the most lengthy hospital stay in Confederate history (I aver), starting about Day One and lasting for YEARS, but one day he got chased out of the hospital and sent to a battle, captured, and sent to Hellmira (he and his brother said). I found no record of him as a Union POW, but his older brother was imprisoned at Hellmira (Elmira, NY) for certain and was a local judge, so I tend to believe the story and so did the State of Florida because John got a Florida Confederate pension. Anyhow, I find that place interesting but have not dealt with it. If anyone has experiences with South Georgia Outdoors I would love to hear about them:

To add to that, it does seem like the big box stores are getting shipments still. Bass pro had the ammo I bought hidden in a cabinet behind the counter, guy got it when I asked him if he had any. He also said a new shipment was coming Wednesday I think.

Bass Pro's prices have come down and are almost competitive with Academy now, and they tend to have ammo in stock more than Academy does.

Well you are still right when it comes to their website, it is pretty much garbage. Terrible inventory management system, though in their defense this is a historically unprecedented run on guns and ammo, so many websites can't keep up.

Conversely if you sell me something, I bought it because it has value to me, either because I want to use it or I think the price leaves me room to make money or I think the market will go up and I can make money in the future. While I think Trump Victory would be better overall, I do not think that Trump would be all that great for gun rights. He would definitely be better than 'Shotgun' Joe Biden and the next President Kamela 'gonna take your guns' Harris (once he kicks off or gets 'found incompetent' early February 2021.) The real problem is that a lot of Republicans have taken up the attitude of 'Anthony Kennedy' where he pulls crap just to get into the history book. Look at Romney.

I would agree and disagree, while a few hundred rounds might make you combat effective you should also consider other possibilities, such as having to resupply a family member or bring a new member into your group. I also look at ammo as any other tangible investment, it's value will constantly fluctuate based on supply and demand, world events as well as local ones (ammo is worth more than gold in some big cities right now) so having a large supply will let you capitalize those events with running you short for your operational requirements.

I've got maybe 1000 rounds of 62grn 5.56 that I would sell. I have plenty of parts to make 5.56, and prefer 55gr for most of my guns anyway (and 7.62 AK is my goto HD/SD).

I don't agree with this at all .... Why not 300 rounds? Where does he get 210 to be his happy medium for an event that may or may not take place? How many rounds do you need for an enemy that you have no idea who it will be or how many there will be?

Yep, when I was in, we got our 7 mags issued to us, 6 in the LBE and one in the M16

Some of their 80s production Korean milsurp 7.62 nato came in a couple years ago and was supposed to be pretty good.

For NATO calibers at one time or another I have bought British, maybe Austrian ('m not sure), German, Israeli, US of course, but never Korean, because from time to time I used to see bad things about Korean ammo in general, though that may have all been the really old stuff. I ain't got nuthin' against Korea, though. I owned a Korean motor vehicle that I drove for 9 years, and it had a few things that fell apart too easily but I identified and babied those after them unraveling during the warranty period. And, Daewoo seems to make make decent guns. My personal jury of me, myself and I are still deliberating as to HOW decent, but so far so good. I haven't ever reloaded any NATO rifle calibers and the pistol caliber stuff just went into the hopper with everything else. So far I haven't found a 9mm Parabellum case in decent condition made by any manufacturer that I wouldn't reload (including even S&B though I keep a jaundiced eye cocked towards it)... but I may have low standards. I mostly cut them 9x19mm down to 9x18mm anyway, and my 9x18mm reloads, even the most powerful ones, are twice as accurate as anything I ever bought from the Roosians, regardless of the maker or even the original caliber of the case. "Case capacity", thickness of the brass or the web, seem to make not the slightest difference.

It's pre-NATO, but for reloading the Greek PYRKAL (HXP) can't be beat in .30-06 and .303 Brit. HXP just seems more malleable than most military case material. I've successfully fireformed .410 Enfield musket shells from them, too. Those are "interesting" with No 9 shot.

Originally Fiocchi imported their ammo from the Italy plant. They built a USA plant in the early 90s. The Italian stuff was the BEST around. Shot MANY a case on sporting clays and live pigeon shoots. Their US plant uses domestic components and is no better or worse than any other USA made shotgun shells.

The last 5-6 years I've been shooting Baschieri and Pellagri shotgun shells. Another imported Italian made shell.

Powder is the difference. The Italian shotgun powder is a flake powder. Hotter, cleaner and faster.
